Have you heard about the National Climate Week? It takes place from October 31 to November 6 and is a week where the Dutch come together to live more sustainably and green. This is perfect timing for me as I am searching for my crew of climate pirates.
I have applied to become the climate mayor of Zandvoort, and my focus is on our motto "education for the next generation." I aim to inform in a practical way by letting people experience sustainable living. My goal is to give entire families a critical perspective and help them realize which 'green' goals are within reach. By doing so, they will have more ownership over their own living environment.
My considerations for sustainable living always include:
- the difference between old and new
- sustainability over expensiveness
- learning from indigenous wisdom
- passing on values to my own children
- self-sufficiency; getting back what you give away
I want to present my approach in a practical 1.5-hour workshop (15 families welcome), where I will share tips and tricks for making your own garden/balcony/greenhouse/rooftop more natural and edible.
Access (one-time) is free, Friday, November 4, from 4:00-5:30 PM.
